Calming signals

Calming Signals is a term coined by Norwegian dog trainer Turid Rugaas to describe the signals used by dogs to communicate with each other.〔(【引用サイトリンク】first1=Turid )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.greenacreskennel.com/dog-behavior-and-training/canine-calming-signals-and-stress )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=https://www.facebook.com/notes/lost-found-dogs-virginia/calming-signals/457474250995889 )〕 According to Rugaas there are at least 30 Calming Signals. What signals dog use depends on the dog. They may use a subset of these signals. The signals are however universal and all dogs understand all signals even if they don't use them. Dogs are known to use these signals with humans too.
The term has been used by other Canine Behaviour Experts to explain dog behaviour.〔(【引用サイトリンク】first1=Mary )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】first1=Nicole )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=https://www.alldogsgym.com/body-language-and-calming-signals/basics/general/puppy-calming-signals )〕 Popular dog illustrator Lili Chin has illustrated these signals.〔(【引用サイトリンク】first1=Lili )〕 There are several others who have illustrated these signals.〔(【引用サイトリンク】first1=Dr. Sophia )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】first1=Jez )〕 Several books on dog behaviour and training now use the term Calming Signals to describe dog-dog and dog-human communication.
